How to get your Free DIY Woodworking Plans

Free woodworking plans can be very useful when you are planning on building a garden or storage shed because you will need some type of plan to work with. Regardless of whether you are a beginner or an experience woodworker or builder, you need guidelines to work with.
There are a number sources available to obtain free woodworking plans and shed blueprints for your project.
If you are a beginner and the term blueprint intimidates you, relax. Blueprints are really just fairly straight-forward but detailed drawings showing you everything that you will require to build your shed. They can be compared to a travel map where they simply tell you how to get from one point to the next, and what you will need in order to get there.
So where do you go to find these free woodworking plans and shed blueprints?
You could begin by visiting your local home improvement store because some of these will have some interesting things on offer. They will often have a series of standard plans in stock. They will often give some of these to you for no charge, based on the assumption you will then feel obliged to purchase the product or supplies necessary from them. As you might expect these plans will normally consist of many of the items they have in stock.
An alternative option would be to take in a rough sketch of the details of what you are looking for. Many suppliers are then often willing then to draft up simple blueprints and plans for you to follow again in the belief you will then purchase the necessary items from their store. Occasionally they will be offering this as part of a promotion to entice customers into their store.
Then there is always the internet where are many sites offering to give you the prints and plans for free. This is not necessarily that they are being overly community spirited but more along the lines of first getting you to sample what they have to offer and then based on the assumption you like what you get, you will be confident to purchase other products in the line, further down the line.
These items are usually applicable to what they are giving you at no charge, such as other plans, tools, books and so forth. For example, if they give you all the drawings and plans you need, then you are going to have to know how to do the things that the plan says. This is where a little more help is required in the form of more detailed and useful information and products.
Perhaps the company that gave you the free shed plans sells some do it yourself books. They would be pleased to sell these to you and build a long-term relationship with you as you follow and develop your woodworking hobby. With the combination of your plans, and the self-help books you need, along with those tools and equipment that are right for the job, you're ready to build one great looking shed!
